Which Areas of the Nose Can Rhinoplasty Address?

If you are considering rhinoplasty (also known as nose surgery or a “nose job”), you may already be aware that the procedure is designed to help enhance the appearance and/or function of the nose. But which specific areas can be targeted? Highlighted below are the particular parts of the nose that can be addressed with rhinoplasty, as well as different enhancements that can be made to each based on your individual needs and aesthetic desires.

  • Nasal Tip – The nasal tip’s shape can be thinned or made fuller, and its projection can be increased or decreased. In addition, if the tip of the nose points down or up, it can be respectively raised or lowered until the desired look is achieved.
  • Nasal Bridge – To help improve balance and harmony with other facial features, the nasal bridge can straightened, broadened/thinned, or reduced/enlarged in size.
  • Nostrils – The nostrils can be recontoured for a more aesthetically pleasing proportion, or to help improve nasal breathing.
  • Septum – A deviated septum can be realigned to help make breathing through the nose easier.

Ultimately, rhinoplasty surgery can be customized to fully address the concerns you may have with the aesthetics and/or function of your nose. To help make certain the procedure is conducted both safely and effectively, however, I strongly advise consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon who has considerable experience with a great number of rhinoplasty cases.
