Ulthera™ Recovery Guide With Plastic Surgeon in New Jersey

Paramus, NJ – Ultherapy is a popular facial procedure that can be used as a nonsurgical alternative to the traditional facelift. New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Luis Zapiach says many of his patients opt to receive Ultherapy because of its effectiveness at achieving their desired rejuvenation results without the need for surgery. In addition to lasers and injectables, the Ulthera™ system utilizes ultrasonic waves to stimulate the growth of collagen, ultimately tightening the skin while smoothing wrinkles and other facial lines. Due to its non-invasive nature, Dr. Zapiach says the state-of-the-art technique has no downtime.

Procedure times can vary depending on the extent of the patient’s needs; however, Dr. Zapiach says the Ulthera™ system generally enables patients to return to their daily routines directly following treatment. He says, “Patients can resume social activities immediately following the treatment as they typically only have mild erythema and edema following the procedure. They can resume strenuous activity the following day and have no restrictions imposed upon them.”

Unlike traditional surgical facelift procedures, Dr. Zapiach says there is rarely any discomfort following Ultherapy; however, most patients experience moderate to significant discomfort during the procedure. In an effort to diminish any discomfort, Dr. Zapiach normally pre-treats patients with pain management medications like Valium and Percocet so the treatment is well tolerated. Patients typically experience minimal discomfort during the healing process, although minor swelling and redness can be expected in the days following treatment. He also says occasional numbness or altered skin sensation can be expected but will gradually resolve over two to three weeks.

Initial results often surface within the first few weeks, and skin tightening gradually improves over a three month period due to the continuous production of new collagen. Dr. Zapiach says recovery times and results are subject to change per individual, adding that patients should always consult with a board-certified surgeon when seeking plastic surgery in New Jersey. He says board-certified surgeons can be trusted to recommend the proper post-procedure care based on each person’s specific needs, as well as provide the most advanced and ethical cosmetic treatments available.
