Breast Augmentation Options in North New Jersey

Whether you want a traditional breast augmentation involving saline or silicone implants or a more natural breast augmentation using fat transfer to build mass in the breast area, Art Plastic Surgery can accommodate your desired preference. We also offer a “mixed” procedure that combines elements of both traditional implant techniques with fat transfer techniques. Ask our team about our breast augmentation options today.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants are FDA-approved for use in breast augmentation procedures for patients who are over the age of 22. As the name suggests, these implants are composed of silicone with an interior silicone gel to simulate a more natural appearance and feel.

Saline Implants

Saline implants are FDA-approved for use with any patient over the age of 18. These implants consist of a silicone exterior shell and are filled with a saltwater solution that is harmless if the implant breaks within the body.

“Gummy Bear” Implants

Formally known as form-stable implants, these breast implants are made from a thicker, more cohesive silicone gel that maintains its shape even if the shell is compromised. They are teardrop-shaped to provide a more natural, tapered slope to the breast.

This state-of-the-art procedure utilizes fat transfer to successfully build mass within the breast. Since fat is taken from other portions of the patient’s body and introduced into the breast area, this approach to breast augmentation is more natural.

What to Expect With Breast Augmentation

Each and every procedure at Art Plastic Surgery is customized to provide the best possible patient outcome. During the consultation process, Dr. Zapiach and Dr. Cozzone will go over a number of factors, including the patient’s wishes for size, type, and shape of the implants, as well as what to expect before, during, and after the breast augmentation procedure.

The Procedure

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the complexity of the surgery and whether it involves fat transfer or a breast lift, the operation typically lasts two to three hours.

Your surgeon will place incisions in discreet locations — commonly in the crease under the breast (inframammary), around the nipple (periareolar), or in the armpit (transaxillary) — to minimize visible scarring. Implants are then placed either under the pectoral muscle (submuscular) or directly behind the breast tissue (subglandular). The best placement depends on your natural tissue coverage and activity level.

The Recovery

Following a breast augmentation procedure, patients can expect to experience soreness and discomfort in the breast area. These symptoms can be managed with medication.

There may also be some bruising, swelling, and numbness that will impact the breast and nipple area. These symptoms are likely to last only the first few weeks following the breast surgery.

Stitches are removed 10 days following surgery, and patients can return to their normal routine within a couple of days to a week. Activities such as exercise, sports, and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks to allow the full recovery of the surgical site.

The Benefits of Breast Augmentation

Choosing breast augmentation is often a life-changing decision that extends beyond physical changes. While the most obvious benefit is an increase in cup size, the advantages of breast implants are multifaceted.

Greater Symmetry

It is very common for women to have naturally asymmetrical breasts, where one is noticeably larger or differently shaped than the other. Breast augmentation, often combined with a breast lift, can correct these discrepancies and create a balanced silhouette.

A Fuller, Voluptuous Shape

Life events such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and significant weight loss can take a toll on breast tissue, often leaving breasts looking “deflated” or less perky than they once were. Augmentation helps restore this lost volume to return the breasts to a more youthful and fuller appearance.

Improved Clothing Fit

Many of our patients express frustration with buying clothes prior to surgery, having to buy different sizes for their top and bottom halves, or feeling that swimwear and formal dresses do not fit properly. After augmentation, patients often find that clothes drape better, shopping becomes more enjoyable, and they have a wider range of fashion choices available to them.

Increased Self-Confidence

Perhaps the most significant benefit of traditional and natural breast augmentation is the boost in self-esteem. When you feel comfortable in your skin and your physical appearance matches your internal self-image, it radiates through every aspect of your life. Our patients frequently report feeling more feminine, confident, and empowered following their procedure.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost in Bergen County, NJ?

One of the most common questions we receive is regarding the cost of surgery. In Bergen County and the greater Northern New Jersey area, the cost of breast augmentation typically ranges between $6,500 and $12,000+. However, it is important to understand that there is no “one-size-fits-all” price, as the total cost depends on several variable factors.

During your consultation, our administrative team will provide a detailed quote and help you navigate your financing options so you can make an informed decision without financial stress.

Breast Augmentation FAQs

How long does breast augmentation surgery take?

Typically, the surgery takes between two and three hours. If you are having a breast lift or fat transfer performed simultaneously, the procedure may take longer.

Will I lose nipple sensation?

Changes in nipple sensation are a possibility with breast surgery, but they are usually temporary. Most patients find that full sensation returns within a few months as the nerves heal.

How often do implants need to be replaced?

Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices. However, many women keep their implants for 10 to 20 years without issue. We recommend routine monitoring to ensure the integrity of the shell.

You generally do not need to replace them unless you experience a complication (like a rupture) or desire a change in size or style later in life.

Can I still breastfeed after augmentation?

In most cases, yes. Breast augmentation typically does not interfere with the milk ducts or the ability to breastfeed, especially when incisions are made in the breast crease or armpit. However, you should discuss your future plans for children with your surgeon, as this may influence the surgical technique used.

Is natural breast augmentation right for me?

Natural breast augmentation using fat transfer is an excellent option for women looking for a modest increase (usually half a cup to one full cup size) and who have adequate fat stores in other areas of the body to harvest. If you are looking for a significant increase in size or have very low body fat, traditional implants may be a better choice.
