Eclipse MicroPen® Micro Needling with Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) Therapy
The Eclipse MicroPen® Elite is an advanced micro needling system designed to enhance the overall look and quality of the skin by stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin. When combined with platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) therapy – the process of using one’s own blood cells to rejuvenate the skin – this innovative treatment can diminish the appearance of common aging symptoms and various other aesthetic concerns on the face, neck, and body. By employing Eclipse MicroPen® Elite micro needling with PRP therapy in the comfort and convenience of our office, New Jersey plastic surgeons Luis Zapiach, MD and John Cozzone, MD can help you achieve beautiful, healthy-looking skin with little to no downtime and long-lasting results.
The Eclipse MicroPen® with PRP Therapy Procedure
The combination of Eclipse MicroPen® Elite micro needling and PRP therapy can be used to help minimize fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone and texture, reduce acne scars and enlarged pores, and facilitate the skin’s absorption of beneficial skin care nutrients. Prior to treatment, platelet-rich-plasma is first collected by extracting a small volume of your blood and separating the red blood cells. The serum created by isolating these cells is naturally rich in growth factors known to repair soft tissue and promote skin rejuvenation, and it will be topically applied to the treatment region both before and after the procedure.
Once the PRP serum is applied, the Eclipse MicroPen® Elite device is used to create microscopic channels in the targeted area’s surface layers of skin. This process, known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), encourages the growth of collagen and elastin as part of the body’s natural healing response, helping to generate newer, younger cells within the skin. To enhance the rejuvenative effects of the Eclipse MicroPen® procedure, the PRP serum is again applied to the surface of the treatment region.
Depending on the specific concerns and number of areas being addressed, the Eclipse MicroPen® Elite with PRP therapy procedure can generally be completed in approximately 30 minutes. A numbing solution can often be applied prior to treatment to help minimize any potential discomfort, and the majority of individuals experience little to no pain at all.
Recovery and Results
Following treatment, some degree of redness, swelling, and/or bruising may occur, though these symptoms should dissipate relatively quickly. In fact, most individuals are able to return to normal daily activities the same day.
Subtle signs of enhancement in the skin’s tone and texture are often noticeable after a few days, and the rejuvenative results of treatment will typically continue to improve in the following weeks as the body continues to grow more collagen and elastin. Ultimately, a series of 3 Eclipse MicroPen® Elite with PRP therapy sessions will be necessary to achieve an ideal outcome seen fully at 3 months.
