What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is an FDA-approved procedure that’s designed to rejuvenate the skin and the connective tissues that support it, without surgery. During Ultherapy®, ultrasound gel is applied to the patient’s skin, then our doctors use the Ultherapy® applicator device to generate detailed images of the patient’s facial and neck tissue. Doing this allows them to precisely identify problem areas where collagen distribution is sparse or uneven.
After this step is complete, our doctors gently apply the applicator device over the patient’s skin while it emits ultrasound energy. As this energy penetrates deep below the skin, it generates heat, causing targeted tissues to contract. This process also stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that’s responsible for keeping the skin strong and supple. Because many of the visible signs of aging are caused by collagen loss, collagen regeneration can effectively eliminate wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.
Though Ultherapy® is usually applied to the upper and lower face and neck, it can also be used to lift and tighten skin on the chest, forehead, and eyelids. In certain cases, it can be a good substitute for brow lift surgery to raise the eyebrows.

Ultherapy® has several unique advantages that make it an excellent alternative to facelift surgery:

Ultherapy® FAQ
You won’t have to rest after having Ultherapy®, but you may notice some mild temporary side-effects, like redness and slight swelling. These symptoms should resolve on their own within one to three days.
Yes; in some cases, our doctors recommend the use of treatments that offer results which complement the effects of Ultherapy®. Combining Ultherapy® with injectable treatments, like Botox® and dermal fillers, or laser resurfacing can create more comprehensive results without adding any downtime. Alternately, some patients choose to combine Ultherapy® with facelift surgery or the Silhouette InstaLift for extensive rejuvenation. When you come in for a consultation, our doctors will develop a fully personalized treatment plan that incorporates both your cosmetic objectives and your recovery preferences.
The results of Ultherapy® take three to six months to become fully apparent; this is the case because collagen synthesis is a gradual process. Most patients can expect their results to remain visible for at least two years. Maintenance treatments can be used to extend the results of Ultherapy® beyond the two-year mark.
Though Ultherapy® is an effective way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, raise the brow, tighten the neck, and minimize jowls, it’s not intended to serve as a complete replacement for facelift, neck lift, or brow lift surgery. Surgery produces more dramatic and immediate results, making it the superior choice for mature patients who have a significant amount of loose skin. However, younger patients (those under 50) can often use Ultherapy® in place of surgery.
